Bradford Euroway Trading Estate Fire Scaled Back as M606 Reopens

Firefighters reduced their response after multiple HGVs burned, with the cause still under investigation.

Overview

  • West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said it initially sent 10 pumps and two aerial appliances to a vehicle fire at the Euroway Trading Estate in Bradford.
  • In an update issued just after 4:30pm on Saturday, the service reported the incident had been scaled back to three pumps with damping down underway.
  • National Highways reopened the M606 after earlier smoke-related closures, and Rock Hill Lane had been shut during the response.
  • Residents to the north and north east, including West Bowling and Bierley, were urged to keep doors and windows closed as thick black smoke spread across the city.
  • Several HGVs were destroyed, police and ambulance crews supported the operation, and officials have not yet confirmed the cause or any injuries.
