Overview

• Majbat MLA Charan Boro was sworn in as a minister at Raj Bhavan in Guwahati, formally bringing the BPF into the NDA government.
• With the fourth cabinet expansion, the council now includes 15 BJP ministers, two from AGP, and one each from UPPL and BPF, filling the last vacant slot.
• Boro is expected to be assigned the Transport portfolio, according to multiple reports.
• BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary said two BTC Executive Member posts and the Deputy Speaker position will go to the BJP as part of the arrangement.
• Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said an inclusive strategy for the 2026 Assembly polls is expected by December, with the UPPL’s role yet to be clarified as UG Brahma continues in the cabinet.
