Boy, 9, Injured After Gunfire Strikes Santee Apartment Before Dawn

Overview

  • Deputies responded at about 3:16 a.m. to Parkway Club Apartments at 1225 Graves Ave. after a shooting was reported.
  • The child was hit after a bullet pierced the residence, sustained a non-life-threatening leg wound while sleeping, and was in stable condition with release expected Saturday evening, according to the sheriff’s department.
  • More than one round was fired into the building, investigators said, and no other injuries were reported.
  • Sheriff’s detectives opened a case and have not announced arrests, a motive, or a classification such as a drive-by.
