Overview
- The break-in was reported around 12:50 p.m. Tuesday at a home on Eagle Avenue in Medford, Long Island.
- Hearing glass shatter, the child climbed out his bedroom window, hid in the backyard, and called 911, and he was not injured.
- Suffolk County Sixth Precinct officers arrived within about three minutes and located the intruder inside the residence.
- Christian Garcia, 53, was arrested at the scene and charged with third-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools, with police saying entry was through a broken kitchen window.
- Garcia was held overnight with arraignment expected Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip, and detectives requested tips at 631-854-8652.
