Boxing Champion Jermall Charlo Faces Legal Trouble After DWI Arrest

Jermall Charlo, undefeated middleweight champion, has been stripped of his WBC title following a DWI arrest involving a high-speed chase.

Charlo was arrested in Pearland, Texas, after allegedly fleeing a collision scene while intoxicated, with blood alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit.
The arrest led to Charlo being charged with three misdemeanors including DWI, evading arrest, and fleeing an accident scene.
Following the incident, the World Boxing Council stripped Charlo of his middleweight title, a belt he had not defended since June 2021.
Charlo's legal troubles come amid discussions of a high-profile fight that did not materialize with boxing superstar Canelo Alvarez.
The boxer was released on a $9,500 surety bond and his management claims he has been focusing on training, denying any drug use.
