Bowie80 Unveiled to Mark David Bowie’s 80th

The estate is combining museum-grade exhibitions, new performances and fashion partnerships to surface unseen archive material for global audiences.

Overview

  • The David Bowie estate announced Bowie80 on Monday, October 5, 2026, launching a year-long slate of events and releases timed around his Jan. 8, 2027 birthday.
  • Retail activations led the first wave, with Nordstrom opening immersive Bowie shops at its Seattle, New York and Chicago flagships and offering limited-edition collections from designers such as Undercover, Marc Jacobs, Paul Smith and AllSaints.
  • The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will run a Bowie80 pop-up from mid-November through January that will include a photography exhibition plus fan events like presentations, trivia and photo opportunities.
  • Major cultural programming announced for 2027 includes the Morrison Hotel Gallery’s Strange Fascination photography shows in February, the BOWIE (breaking) GLASS concert premiere in Copenhagen in spring, the V&A’s On Tour continuing in Dundee then Blackpool, and the immersive You’re Not Alone show expanding to Manchester, Brighton and Hamburg.
  • Merchandise will roll out on Bowie’s official webstore through Perryscope and licensed partners such as Phix and Girl Skateboards, using the estate’s roughly 90,000-item archive to pair archival releases with commercial collaborations and further announcements throughout 2027.
