Overview

  • On June 1, Mohamed Sabry Soliman launched Molotov cocktails and a makeshift flamethrower at a pro-Israel gathering in Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall, injuring 12 people including a Holocaust survivor.
  • Soliman overstayed his visa after it expired in March, rendering him an illegal immigrant despite earlier work authorization granted under the Biden administration.
  • State prosecutors brought 16 attempted murder counts and multiple incendiary device charges, while the Justice Department added a federal hate crime accusation, exposing him to more than 600 years behind bars.
  • FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and local law enforcement are treating the incident as an act of terror, noting Soliman’s public support for the Muslim Brotherhood and his cries of “Free Palestine.”
  • ICE and Homeland Security Investigations have detained Soliman’s wife and five children and initiated expedited removal proceedings against them.
