Boston's Beloved Marathon Dog Honored Posthumously

Hundreds of dogs and their owners gathered in Boston to pay tribute to Spencer, the official dog of the Boston Marathon, after his death from cancer.
The meetup was organized to honor Spencer and Penny, another golden retriever who recently passed away.
Spencer gained fame for enthusiastically cheering on runners each year at Mile 3 of the marathon course while holding a Boston Strong flag.
Though Spencer has passed, his owner will be at Mile 3 of this year's marathon with Spencer's flag and jacket to honor his memory.
The turnout at the event showed how much love there was for Spencer and demonstrated the tight-knit community of golden retriever owners.
