The outcome could flip a 20-vote gap in District 7 or confirm whether a third-place mayoral candidate meets the 3,000-vote bar.

  • Boston elections officials set recounts for 9 a.m. Saturday at the City Hall Election Department following certified petitions from two third-place finishers.
  • Mavrick Afonso requested a District 7 recount after finishing 20 votes behind Miniard Culpepper, with ward tallies to be rechecked in Wards 4, 9, 12, and 13.
  • Domingos DaRosa sought a mayoral recount in Wards 4, 8, 9, 16, and 18 as he tries to reach the 3,000-vote threshold required to replace a withdrawn candidate on the November ballot.
  • Unofficial results show Mayor Michelle Wu with 66,398 votes, Josh Kraft with 21,324 before withdrawing, and DaRosa with 2,409, which is short of the state-law requirement.
  • The District 7 seat remains vacant after Tania Fernandes Anderson’s federal corruption conviction and resignation, with Said Ahmed and Culpepper currently set to advance.
