Bosch to Cut 13,000 More Mobility Jobs in Germany by 2030

Management says the reductions are needed to close a €2.5 billion annual cost gap in the Mobility business by the end of the decade.

Overview

  • Bosch outlined site targets that include about 3,500 roles in StuttgartFeuerbach, 1,750 in Schwieberdingen, 1,550 in Bühl/Bühlertal, 1,250 in Homburg and an end to Waiblingen connector‑technology production by 2028 affecting roughly 560 jobs.
  • The company will begin rapid talks with works councils to agree socially acceptable measures, with HR chief Stefan Grosch warning that delays would worsen the situation.
  • IG Metall and Bosch works councils condemned the plan and demanded assurances for German sites, calling the proposed reductions a social cutback for affected regions.
  • Bosch cites weak European auto demand and a slower ramp‑up of electrification and automated driving after heavy investments, with Mobility targeting a 7% margin following 3.8% last year.
  • Local announcements include the Blaichach/Immenstadt plant planning to reduce up to 650 positions by the end of 2028 largely through attrition and other social measures.
