Bosch to Cut 13,000 Jobs by 2030, Concentrating Reductions in German Mobility Sites

The privately held supplier targets €2.5 billion in annual savings to shore up its mobility business.

Overview

  • Bosch said the new reductions equal about 3% of its global workforce and roughly 10% of its headcount in Germany.
  • Site plans include about 3,500 cuts in Feuerbach, 1,750 in Schwieberdingen, closure of the Waiblingen plant in 2028 affecting 560 roles, 1,550 in Bühl and 1,250 in Homburg.
  • The company cited weaker demand, geopolitics and tariffs as drivers for the restructuring, with reporting noting that heavy bets on hydrogen and electric technologies have not paid off as expected.
  • HR chief Stefan Grosch said urgent, durable cost cuts are necessary to restore competitiveness and emphasized that Germany and Europe remain central to Bosch.
  • The mobility unit employs about 70,000 people and previously flagged 9,000 job reductions in Germany last year, with management saying worker representatives have been informed and socially responsible solutions will be sought.
