• On June 24 the European Handball Federation confirmed Dortmund’s women’s team as one of 16 clubs in next season’s Champions League, ending a four-year absence from the competition.
• The squad had already qualified for the EHF European League by finishing second in the Bundesliga main round and then pursued a Champions League wildcard.
• An evaluation group of EHF and club representatives granted the wildcard in accordance with official competition regulations.
• Rupert Thiele, head of Dortmund’s women’s handball division, said the Champions League presents both a major challenge and a unique chance to measure the team against Europe’s best.
• The group stage draw is scheduled for June 27 in Vienna and will determine Dortmund’s opponents for the campaign.
