Dortmund currently sits 10th in the Bundesliga, 20 points behind leaders Bayern Munich, and risks missing out on Champions League qualification next season.
Şahin, a former Dortmund player and fan favorite, was appointed in June 2024 but failed to deliver consistent results, winning only 12 of his 27 games in charge.
The club cited a lack of confidence in achieving their sporting goals under Şahin, with poor performances attributed to both tactical struggles and squad issues.
Under-19 coach Mike Tullberg will temporarily lead the team, while potential candidates for a permanent replacement reportedly include Erik ten Hag and Niko Kovač.
