Borussia Dortmund Defender Daniel Svensson Out with Knee Injury

The Swedish player will miss the Champions League return leg and key Bundesliga matches after suffering a ligament injury against Lille.

Daniel Svensson sustained a medial ligament injury in his knee during Borussia Dortmund's 1-1 draw against OSC Lille in the Champions League Round of 16 first leg.
The injury occurred after a tackle by Lille's André Gomes, which left Svensson unable to continue and required his substitution late in the match.
Svensson is confirmed to miss the return leg in Lille next week, as well as upcoming Bundesliga games against FC Augsburg and RB Leipzig.
Dortmund's management, including coach Niko Kovac and sporting director Sebastian Kehl, criticized the match referee for not issuing a yellow or red card for the tackle, despite a VAR review.
Svensson joined Borussia Dortmund in January from FC Nordsjaelland and had been an important addition to the team's defense before this injury setback.
