Borderlands 4 Halloween Patch Brings Balance Overhaul as Gearbox Plans to Reinstate Boss-Farm Cooldown Reset

The update aims to curb unintended damage loops to steer balance toward broader build diversity.

Overview

  • The delayed patch went live on October 23 alongside the limited-time Horrors of Kairos Halloween event.
  • Targeted nerfs address unintended interactions, including Harlowe’s Neutron Capture applying only to gun shots, Vex’s Bloodletter no longer self-triggering, and Amon’s Seeing Red duration fixed at four seconds with reduced Blackout scaling.
  • Wide-ranging buffs raise underperformers, with bigger class mod and melee/action-skill bonuses and notable weapon increases such as Star Helix fire rate up 33%, Bonnie and Clyde damage up 40%, and Gamma Void base damage up 450% with a longer cooldown.
  • Economy and quality-of-life changes cut Specialization Respec cost from 5,000 to 1,500 Eridium, improve Lost Loot Machine prioritization and multiplayer SDU expansion, add persistent sorting and a Legendary loot indicator, and refine fast-travel unlocking.
  • Gearbox confirmed the vendor-based cooldown reset removal was accidental and will restore it, keeping rapid boss farming viable via Moxxi’s Big Encore machines.
