Overview

  • Agents uncovered and disabled the underground passage in early April after tracing its route beneath the Otay Mesa Port of Entry

  • Investigators located the entry point concealed under freshly laid tile inside a house in Tijuana’s Nueva Tijuana neighborhood
  • Survey teams measured the passage at 2,918 feet long, 42 inches tall, 28 inches wide and about 50 feet deep
  • Officials will pour thousands of gallons of concrete to seal the tunnel as U.S. and Mexican authorities probe those responsible
