Overview
- The Booker Prize Foundation revealed its 2025 longlist of 13 novels on July 29, chosen from 150 English-language titles published in the UK and Ireland between October 2024 and September 2025.
- Authors from nine countries make this the most internationally diverse longlist in a decade, spanning India, Malaysia, Ukraine, Trinidad, Albania, Hungary, the UK, the US and Canada.
- Kiran Desai appears on the list with The Loneliness of Sonia and Sunny, her first novel since winning the Booker in 2006.
- Only two debut novelists, Ledia Xhoga and Maria Reva, join a field otherwise dominated by established writers.
- The panel, which includes Sarah Jessica Parker, Ayọ̀bámi Adébáyọ̀, Chris Power and Kiley Reid, will announce a six-title shortlist in September before revealing the £50,000 winner in November.
