Book Returned to Colorado Library 37 Years Late

A book titled 'Psychedelics' by Bernard Aaronson, due back on May 30, 1987, was returned to the High Plains Library District in Colorado nearly 37 years late.
The book returner left a note apologizing for the delay, humorously referencing the book's subject with 'It's been a long, strange trip.'
The library district responded with humor, referencing cultural milestones from 1987 and offering amnesty for even older returns.
Despite the potential for a late fee of over $1,300, the library no longer charges late fees, and the book was returned anonymously.
The returned book will not be shelved again due to damage but will be archived, and a copy of the same title remains available.
