Overview
- The first sale is scheduled for Nov. 11 in Los Angeles with three works—Cliffside (1990), Winter’s Peace (1993) and Home in the Valley (1993).
- Additional auctions are planned in London, New York, Boston and online, with further dates to be announced by Bonhams.
- Organizers have pledged all net proceeds to American Public Television and local public TV stations to support programming and licensing costs.
- Bonhams estimates the 30 paintings will bring a combined $850,000 to $1.4 million, following August sales of two Ross works for $114,800 and $95,750.
- The initiative follows Congress’ elimination of $1.1 billion for public broadcasting at President Donald Trump’s direction, which has led to budget cuts, layoffs and CPB’s shutdown.
