- Bonhams announced The Gene Hackman Collection: A Life in Art, with a live New York sale on November 19 and online sessions running November 8–21 (New York) and November 25–December 4 (Los Angeles).
- The core offering features 13 principal works, including pieces by Milton Avery, Richard Diebenkorn and Auguste Rodin, alongside works by Kandinsky and Matisse and photographs by Henri Cartier-Bresson.
- The estate will also offer film-related memorabilia and personal effects such as three Golden Globes, scripts, annotated books, posters, SAG-AFTRA cards and artworks and studio tools from Hackman himself.
- Pre-sale estimates include Avery at $500,000–$700,000, Diebenkorn at $300,000–$500,000, Rodin sculptures at $120,000–$180,000 and $60,000–$80,000, a Kandinsky around $15,000 and each Golden Globe at $3,000–$5,000.
- The sale follows Hackman and his wife being found dead at their New Mexico home in February, and public reports do not yet clarify who will ultimately benefit from the proceeds.
