Bone Unearthed in Port Lincoln Backyard During Renewed Search for Susan Goodwin

Excavation has paused pending forensic tests to assess any link to the 2002 case.

Overview

  • Major Crime detectives, supported by the AFP, used ground-penetrating radar before excavating a vacant Pamir Court property in Port Lincoln.
  • A large bone was uncovered just before 10am after digging began around 9am, and Forensic Science SA specialists are examining it.
  • Testing will determine whether the bone is human and, if so, whether it could belong to Goodwin.
  • Police have notified Goodwin’s family, paused the site search for forensic work, and continue broader inquiries with a $200,000 reward on offer.
  • Goodwin, 39 at the time, was last seen on July 19, 2002 after shopping in Port Lincoln, and her car was later found at her Moonta Crescent home.
