• Attorney General Pam Bondi this week appointed Ed Martin as special prosecutor to investigate alleged mortgage, bank and wire fraud by Sen. Adam Schiff and New York Attorney General Letitia James.
• On August 8, grand juries convened in Virginia and Maryland to weigh potential indictments against both officials.
• Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William Pulte referred James and Schiff earlier this year, accusing them of falsifying property and bank records to secure favorable loan terms.
• Both James and Schiff have denied any wrongdoing and decried the investigations as politically driven.
• A separate DOJ grand jury is also examining James’s civil fraud litigation against former President Trump and the NRA.
