Bond Set at Nearly $7 Million for Man Accused of Armed Spring ISD Bus Boarding

A judge set the amount after task-force officers arrested David Romeo Madison, with a protective order issued for the student he allegedly targeted.

Overview

  • Bond was set at $2.2 million across the aggravated assault and attempted aggravated kidnapping counts and $2.5 million for the terroristic threat charge, totaling about $6.9 million.
  • The 20-year-old faces charges of aggravated assault on a public servant with a deadly weapon, attempted aggravated kidnapping, and terroristic threat, and a judge issued an emergency protective order for the student.
  • Court records say he used an SUV to block the bus, boarded with what investigators described as a rifle, tried to pull an ex-girlfriend off the bus, and said, "I'll get you later."
  • Surveillance footage from the bus and a nearby home helped identify him, and authorities say he pointed the weapon at the driver and some of the 24 students onboard; no injuries were reported.
  • The U.S. Marshals’ Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force arrested him and turned him over to Spring ISD Police, and the district reports no ongoing threat as it adds short-term security measures.
