Bond Granted to Three Workers Detained in Allston ICE Operation

DHS says the sweep was intelligence-led despite a BU student's public claim of prompting it.

Overview

  • Judge Yul-mi Cho of the Chelmsford Immigration Court granted bond to Yuli Magali Mendez Luarca ($5,000), Dairo Preciado ($5,000), and Jose Enriquez Sagastume ($1,500), according to their attorney.
  • The three were being processed for release Monday, while six colleagues’ cases remain pending and two have bond hearings scheduled for Thursday, their lawyer said.
  • The workers’ attorney says many detainees have legal status or valid work permits and were not allowed to present documents during the Nov. 4 operation, with some transferred out of state.
  • Allston Car Wash condemned the BU student’s post labeling its staff “criminals,” as campus groups and community organizations pressed for sanctions and organized rallies.
  • DHS publicly denied the student’s role in triggering the raid and called the action targeted, saying the nine arrests included one person accused of illegal reentry.
