Overview

  • Restoration crews have completed structural maintenance and modernisation of the 1,800-space underground facility to repair flood damage from October’s DANA storm.
  • When combined with more than 4,000 exterior bays, the reopened underground spots lift total parking availability to over 5,000 places for the first time since February.
  • Military and police units confirmed zero casualties in the submerged levels after exhaustive inspections, disproving earlier social media rumors of additional fatalities.
  • Since February, the center has welcomed seven new operators, highlighted by the Danish retailer Normal’s July 12 opening, with Parfois, Canitas and Soloptical due this month.
  • Bonaire’s manager reported a 5.5 percent sales increase through May and said restoring full parking access will further support its 2,300-strong workforce and regional economy.
