Bomb‑Threat Emails Target Delhi Assembly, Civic Centre and Schools

Police say cyber forensics are tracing the emails to identify the sender and decide on legal action.

Overview

  • Multiple New Delhi sites received bomb‑threat emails on Tuesday, including the Delhi Assembly, the Civic Centre, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, DPS Vasant Kunj and the Kapashera district magistrate's office.
  • The Delhi Assembly reported an email at about 8:30 a.m. and the Civic Centre at about 10:10 a.m., after which police, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, sniffer dog teams and Delhi Fire Services cordoned off and searched the premises.
  • All searches turned up no suspicious objects or substances and locations remained secured as a precaution while checks continued.
  • The Delhi Police and the Cyber Cell are conducting forensic tracing of the emails and the capital’s new cyber coordination unit has set up a dedicated hoax bomb‑email cell to investigate spoofed or anonymised messages.
  • Authorities say the incidents follow similar threat emails in mid‑August and have prompted continued heightened vigilance because repeated hoax threats still disrupt public services and can lead to criminal prosecution once senders are identified.
