Bombing at Thai Festival Kills 3 and Injures Dozens

An improvised explosive device was thrown into a crowd during a festival in Tak province, with two teenage suspects detained as investigations continue.

The explosion occurred late Friday night at the Red Cross Doi Loyfa fair in Umphang, Tak province, near the Myanmar border.
At least 48 people were injured, six critically, with three fatalities reported, including a 14-year-old teenager.
Thai police have detained two suspects, aged 16 and 17, with preliminary investigations pointing to a fight between rival groups as the motive.
The explosive device is confirmed to have been homemade, and authorities state there is no broader security threat at this time.
