Bombay High Court Reinstates Ajit Ranade as GIPE Vice Chancellor

Ajit Ranade was initially removed from his position as Vice Chancellor of the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics due to a fact-finding committee's report citing non-compliance with UGC norms.
Former Chancellor Bibek Debroy issued the termination order on September 14, which was later contested by Ranade in the Bombay High Court.
Sanjeev Sanyal, who assumed the role of chancellor on October 7, rescinded the termination to uphold due process and provide Ranade an opportunity to present his case.
The Bombay High Court had previously granted interim relief to Ranade, allowing him to continue in his role pending a full hearing.
Chancellor Sanyal emphasized the importance of procedural fairness, and Ranade welcomed the decision, expressing his commitment to the institute.
