Bombay High Court Grants Bail to Two Accused in Salman Khan Assassination Plot

The court found insufficient evidence against the accused, citing only their presence in a WhatsApp group linked to the alleged conspiracy.

The Bombay High Court granted bail to Vaspi Mehmud Khan (alias Wasim Chikna) and Gaurav Vinod Bhatia (alias Sandeep Bishnoi), accused of plotting to assassinate actor Salman Khan.
The alleged plot, linked to jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang, was uncovered by police in June 2024 during an investigation into an earlier firing incident outside Khan's Bandra home.
The court noted that the only evidence against the accused was their presence in a WhatsApp group where the conspiracy was allegedly discussed, with no substantial incriminating material found.
The defense argued that the allegations were fabricated for media attention and highlighted that another co-accused in the case had already been granted bail in 2024.
The court restricted the movement of the accused, barring them from entering Mumbai city and its suburban districts until the trial concludes.
