Bombay High Court Denies Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra Permission to Travel for Phuket Trip

The lookout circular stays in the EOW’s Rs 60 crore Best Deal TV probe with the state’s reply due on October 8.

Overview

  • The couple sought suspension of the LOC to take a family trip to Phuket from October 2 to 5, citing confirmed bookings and prior compliance with travel permissions.
  • An FIR based on businessman Deepak Kothari’s complaint alleges Rs 60.48 crore routed to Best Deal TV between 2015 and 2023 was misappropriated, with charges under IPC sections 403, 406 and 34.
  • Investigators have traced about Rs 25 crore to celebrity and production accounts, and EOW sources claim roughly Rs 15 crore went to a Shetty-linked entity, a claim her lawyer publicly denies as false.
  • Raj Kundra appeared before the EOW on September 15 and says he is cooperating, while the petition notes Shetty has not been summoned so far.
  • Separately, the ED’s chargesheet alleges Kundra was the beneficial owner of 285 Bitcoins linked to a prior crypto case, a matter still before a special PMLA court.
