Bombay HC Questions Police for Not Naming Parth Pawar in Pune Land-Deal FIR

The judge flagged Parth Pawar’s absence from the case record, raising doubts about the breadth of the investigation.

Overview

  • Justice Madhav Jamdar asked whether police were shielding the deputy chief minister’s son after noting his omission from the FIR, as the state said the probe is ongoing.
  • The EOW jointly questioned power-of-attorney holder Sheetal Tejwani and suspended tehsildar Suryakant Yewale about the Mundhwa transaction and their alleged links.
  • Tejwani, arrested on December 3, remains in police custody through December 11 and withdrew a high court anticipatory bail plea in a second FIR after the bench signaled it would not entertain it.
  • The FIRs name Digvijay Patil, Tejwani and a sub-registrar, while Parth Pawar is not listed despite being the majority partner in Amadea Enterprises, which bought 40 acres for about Rs 300 crore.
  • Investigators and registration officials allege the land is government Mahar Watan property and that stamp-duty relief of roughly Rs 21 crore was wrongly claimed, as CM Devendra Fadnavis vowed no protection for the guilty.
