Overview

• Taloja Central Prison informed the Bombay High Court that Ramesh Gaichor was released around 11 pm on September 10 after judges reprimanded officials for ignoring a humanitarian bail order.
• Superintendent Pramod Wagh filed an affidavit tendering an unconditional apology for the non-compliance that delayed Gaichor’s release.
• The High Court modified the three-day leave and directed Gaichor to return to prison by September 13, with orders recorded as up to 5 pm on that date.
• Gaichor’s three-day temporary bail was granted on August 26 to visit his ailing 76-year-old father, but prison officials cited holiday-related delays and insisted on a sessions-court release warrant.
• Arrested in September 2020 in the Bhima Koregaon–Elgar Parishad case under UAPA, Gaichor had earlier been denied interim bail by the special NIA court on July 1.
