Bomb Threat Emails Trigger Diversions and Checks on Hyderabad-Bound Flights

Investigators are tracing the source of the emails after multiple aircraft were cleared by bomb squads.

Overview

  • IndiGo flight 6E58 from Madinah to Hyderabad diverted to Ahmedabad around 12:30 p.m., where passengers were deboarded and the aircraft was isolated for checks.
  • Security teams including CISF, NDRF, and local police searched the Madinah–Hyderabad aircraft and reported no suspicious items, with an official calling the threat likely a hoax.
  • Hyderabad airport said it received the 6E58 threat email at about 10 a.m. while the plane was airborne, and the pilot chose Ahmedabad as the nearest safe landing option.
  • A separate threat email targeted IndiGo flight 6E1422 from Sharjah; Hyderabad airport sources said it landed in Hyderabad and underwent standard protocols, though some reports claimed a diversion to Mumbai.
  • On Friday, Hyderabad authorities received a new email about Emirates flight EK-526 from Dubai, a full emergency was declared, and subsequent checks found nothing suspicious.
