Overview

• A call to the Chennai police control room around 2 a.m. claimed an explosive had been planted at actor and TVK leader Vijay’s Neelankarai residence.
• Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad personnel and local police reached the house at about 4:30 a.m. with a sniffer dog.
• Entry was granted at 7:05 a.m. after security staff said Vijay was asleep, and a half-hour sweep followed.
• The BDDS declared the threat a hoax after completing the inspection of the premises.
• This was the second reported threat involving Vijay’s residence in 11 days, with similar hoax calls also logged on September 28 and on Wednesday night.
