Overview

  • A passerby discovered a suspicious object in the Würm river near Pasinger Straße at 15:37 on July 13
  • Feuerwehr Gräfelfing and police set up a 50-meter safety cordon, closed the airspace and evacuated a nearby bathing island and playground
  • The Kampfmittelräumdienst confirmed the object was a World War II–era grenade before safely removing it
  • Around 60 personnel from the Kreisbrandinspektion, Katastrophenschutz and local rescue services were involved in the roughly four-hour operation
  • A separate suspected ordnance find in a Geretsried garden was ruled a false alarm after experts determined it was an old water pipe and all cordons have since been lifted
