• Speaking to U.S. executives, she said President Trump was unhappy about the inauguration of the China‑linked Chancay port and stated she wants a meeting with him to encourage U.S. investment in Latin America.
• Chancay is majority controlled by China’s COSCO Shipping, and in November 2024 a Trump transition adviser publicly floated a 60% tariff on goods routed through the port to the U.S.
