Bolton Firefighters Offer Free Drop-In CPR Training for Restart a Heart Day on Thursday

Organisers aim to boost bystander confidence in the crucial minutes before paramedics arrive.

Overview

  • Short, 15-minute hands-on classes will run outside the Market Place entrance on Thursday, 16 October, from 11am to 3pm, led by crews from Bolton Central Fire Station.
  • Further demonstrations are scheduled at Bolton Central Library and Farnworth Leisure Centre to make training accessible across the borough.
  • Sessions are free, drop-in and require no booking, with adult and child manikins available for practice.
  • Local employers are being urged to let staff step out for 15 minutes, and parents and carers are welcome to attend.
  • The initiative forms part of a national campaign led by Resuscitation Council UK with the British Heart Foundation and St John Ambulance, responding to more than 40,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests a year in the UK where survival remains under one in ten, and early CPR and defibrillation can more than double survival chances.
