- He died at his Juhu residence around 1 pm on November 24, his family announced, following a recent bout of respiratory illness.
- Final rites were conducted at Pawan Hans crematorium, with Sunny Deol performing the rituals and attendees including Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan.
- He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on October 31 for breathing difficulties, moved to the ICU with ventilator support on November 10, and was discharged on November 12 for home care, according to his physician Dr Pratit Samdani.
