Boeing Settles for $51 Million Over Export Violations, Including to China

Boeing has agreed to a $51 million settlement with the U.S. State Department to address unauthorized export of defense-related technical data.
Violations involved unauthorized data downloads by employees in China and 18 other countries, affecting U.S. national security.
The settlement covers incidents from 2013 to 2018, with a majority occurring before 2020.
Boeing will allocate $24 million of the penalty towards enhancing its compliance program, under supervision for at least two years.
The agreement includes a three-year consent period and requires two external audits of Boeing's ITAR compliance program.
