Boeing Machinists Ratify 5-Year Deal, Ending 3-Month St. Louis Strike

The five-year pact ends a 101-day walkout, positioning Boeing to restart St. Louis–area defense production next week.

Overview

  • About 3,200 IAM District 837 members approved the agreement by roughly 68%, ending the work stoppage that began Aug. 4.
  • The contract provides a 24% wage increase over five years and a $6,000 ratification bonus for covered workers in St. Louis, St. Charles and Mascoutah.
  • Return-to-work is set to begin late Nov. 16, with Boeing saying it expects its full team back on Nov. 17 to support defense customers.
  • Boeing recruited replacement workers during the strike but pledged that all IAM 837 members will be reinstated without displacement under the ratified deal.
  • The walkout disrupted programs including the F-15, F/A-18 and T-7, with the Air Force acknowledging F-15EX delivery delays during the stoppage.
