• Jacksonville Sheriff's Office shared body-worn camera footage on Monday of a June 24 incident involving a 5-year-old who walked to a Chick-fil-A alone.
• Employees at the San Jose Boulevard restaurant kept the boy, William, safe, gave him breakfast, and called police around 7 a.m.
• On video, William asked officers if he would be taken to jail, and they assured him he would not.
• Officers Kelly and Perri drove William through the neighborhood until he pointed out his home, then overcame a locked fence and a broken call box to reach his surprised parents.
• JSO said the parents face no charges and used the post to urge caregivers to teach children a home address, parents’ names, and a phone number, noting a later reunion at the restaurant where William thanked staff and officers.
