Bodycam Shows Florida Dog Leading Deputy to Missing 86-Year-Old in Late-Night Rescue

Footage released by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office shows Deputy Devon Miller following the dog to the woman, whose leg injury was described as non-life-threatening.

Overview

  • The sheriff’s office posted the Sept. 25 encounter on Facebook on Oct. 6, drawing widespread attention and praise.
  • A distraught husband called 911 after his wife did not return from a short walk, saying she is usually back in 10 to 15 minutes but had been gone for over an hour.
  • Deputy Devon Miller spotted the dog, Eeyore, still attached to a leash and followed him after asking, “Where’s your mama?”
  • The 86-year-old was found alert and conscious on a sidewalk in the Destin/Shalimar area, and paramedics transported her for evaluation.
  • Officials withheld the couple’s names; the dog belongs to their adult child and has been described as roughly 100 pounds.
