Overview
- William, 5, left his Jacksonville home around 7 a.m., squeezed through a fence and walked to the Chick-fil-A on San Jose Boulevard.
- Restaurant employees gave him breakfast, stayed with him and called the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
- Body-worn camera video shows William asking officers if he would be taken to jail as Officers Bryan Kelly and Ryan Perri reassured him.
- Officers located his gated home with his help, hopped the locked fence when the call box failed and returned him to surprised parents who had been asleep.
- JSO said the parents are not in trouble, used the case as a safety reminder, and later shared a reunion at the restaurant where William thanked the officers with cookies.
