• A husband and wife were struck from behind on Route 714 around 10:30 p.m. Saturday, sending their car into a water-filled embankment in a remote area.
• With the 911 call dropping and the vehicle hidden by thick brush, deputies located the site after hearing a continuous horn.
• Deputies Matt Fritchie and Juan Pepper-Orelliana entered the canal, broke into the overturned car, and pulled both occupants to safety.
• The victims were hospitalized with injuries and later released, and officials say they are expected to fully recover.
