Overview

  • Police on Monday recovered the body of Deaquan White, 29, from the Wicomico River near the 300 block of West Main Street by Mill Street around 9:30 a.m.
  • His remains were sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore to determine the cause and manner of death.
  • Salisbury Police and Maryland State Police say the investigation is ongoing and they have not determined how he ended up in the water.
  • Councilwoman April Jackson urged installing fencing or guardrails along the downtown riverwalk, citing multiple recent drownings documented in 2024.
