Overview
- Malti Bai, 40, was seized by a crocodile while bathing in the Kaniyaghat Patti village river on the first day of the holy month of Sawan
- Villagers’ initial attempts to rescue her failed and a joint operation by the forest department and State Disaster Response Force forced the crocodile to release her body
- An SDRF team located her remains about 40 km downstream from the Damoh district headquarters on Friday morning
