Body of Missing SWOSU Student Found Near Veterans Lake as Fellow Student Is Arrested

Investigators say the students were traveling together before an altercation, with formal charges pending review by the U.S. District Attorney.

Overview

  • Logan Musil, 18, was recovered on Oct. 8 in a wooded area near Veterans Lake in Sulphur, roughly 150 miles from SWOSU’s Weatherford campus, following a multiagency search.
  • OSBI arrested an 18-year-old fellow SWOSU student on campus on Oct. 9 and booked him into the Custer County Jail on complaints of murder and transferring the body to Sulphur.
  • The medical examiner has identified the victim as Musil and will determine the cause and time of death.
  • OSBI says the two students were traveling together and an altercation occurred, and investigators are still working to learn where it happened and why the body was taken to Sulphur.
  • Authorities say they are not seeking additional suspects, as OSBI’s role began Oct. 5 after a request from campus police, who received the missing-person report on Sept. 30.
