Body of Missing Student Annabella Martinelli Found Hanging Near Bicycle in Colli Euganei

Prosecutors order an autopsy to clarify the circumstances.

Overview

  • A passerby discovered the 22-year-old hanging from a tree in Villa di Teolo, in a garden off Via Euganea Teolo, roughly 100 paces from where her purple bicycle had been found.
  • Prosecutor Angelantonio Racanelli and investigating magistrates attended the site, and the body is being transferred to Padua’s Institute of Legal Medicine for autopsy and forensic analysis.
  • She was found clothed with her backpack beneath her, and her phone was recovered switched off after earlier records indicated it connected to a Teolo cell the night she disappeared.
  • The area had been searched for days by carabinieri, firefighters, canine units, drones and volunteers, following CCTV that last recorded her around 23:06 near Villa di Teolo.
  • Investigators are reviewing camera footage, phone data and search findings while reassessing earlier hypotheses, including the kidnapping probe initially opened by the Padua prosecutor’s office.
