Body of Missing Skier Sam Burns Found in Scottish Highlands

The 40-year-old skier, missing since Friday, was discovered by rescue teams in the Cairngorms; police report no suspicious circumstances.

Sam Burns, 40, was reported missing after failing to return from a solo skiing trip in the Cairngorms on Friday, December 13, 2024.
A body was located by rescue teams at 11 a.m. on Saturday, with Burns' family notified of the discovery.
Burns was believed to have been attempting to ski Y Gully or Diagonal Gully on the Cairngorm plateau before falling a significant distance.
Over 30 mountain rescue team members and a coastguard helicopter participated in the search effort.
Police Scotland confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
