Body of Missing Hiker Recovered After Fatal Fall in New Hampshire Mountains

Christopher Huyler, a 44-year-old outdoor enthusiast, died after a significant fall while hiking icy terrain in the White Mountains.

Huyler had been assessing conditions for a ski glade near Cannon Mountain when he suffered a fatal fall in icy terrain at an elevation of approximately 2,800 feet.
Search-and-rescue teams located his body early Saturday morning after navigating challenging off-trail, wintery conditions.
The recovery effort involved 22 rescuers who carried Huyler’s body 3.2 miles to the trailhead, where it was met by the assistant medical examiner.
Officials reminded hikers to prepare for winter conditions by carrying essential gear, as colder weather and snow have already arrived in the region.
